There are three computer-based non-linear video editing suites and one audio editing "sound room" available to students currently enrolled in education courses and to faculty and staff of the College of Education. Usage is limited to projects for current education and instructional purposes. One production room has the latest version of Final Cut Pro.

Users of the video editing rooms should have a basic knowledge of digital desktop video editing, and Sound Room users should have a basic knowledge of audio editing. All four production rooms may be reserved for up to two hours per day. First time users should contact Rob Donald (232-5419) to arrange for an introductory orientation. See below for additional details on reserving these areas.

Video Editing Room One contains an Apple Mac Pro computer with a 23” Apple CinemaDisplay monitor. Final Cut Pro and iMovie, part of the iLife software suite, are nonlinear video editing programs and are both available. The room is equipped with a DVD Video Recorder and an analog VHS/SVHS recorder player with a converter box to digitize the analog signal into the computer. The room also has a Mini-DV player to transfer tape into the computer via an interfacing firewire cable.

Video Editing Room Two is equipped with an Apple G-5 computer and a 20” CinemaDisplay monitor. iMovie, a nonlinear editing program, is installed on the computer. The room also has a digital mini-dv player, an analog VHS player, and a converter box.

Video Editing Room Three is equipped with an Apple G-5 computer and 17” flat screen display, two VHS player/recorders, a PAL conversion recorder, and a converter box. iMovie, a nonlinear editing program, is installed on the computer.

In the Sound Room, patrons can make stereo recordings utilizing narrations, sound effects, and music. The sound room is an acoustically treated room equipped with cassette recorders, microphone, mixer, and a CD player. The room is also equipped with an Apple G5 computer and Peak LE software that allows conversion of analog audio to digital.
